Pine tar is the sticky stuff from pine tree resins. But can you believe how powerful this stuff is? Because of its anti-bacterial, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties, it has long been used medicinally for a variety of skin conditions, such as eczema and dandruff. It has been even been said to relieve the itching and irritation caused by insect bites or poison ivy, oak and sumac! It is a natural substance with a strong piney, masculine scent. Undiluted, it can be harsh on the skin but in a soap recipe, blended with the fats and soothing oils, it is an awesome additive. The moisturizing and hypoallergenic qualities of jojoba oil combine well with the unique, antiseptic properties of pine tar. A healthy, traditional soap worth trying. A classic!
